After our article came out in the ADN, an eighth-grade student from Fairbanks wrote to us asking if there was something she could do. She was moved by our story, and distraught at the thought of her own dogs ever suffering such as those described in the story. Instead of a donation of money, food, or doggie items, we asked her to create some educational posters that we could put around our village. We gave her some ideas, but she researched, composed and created the posters that I have photographed. She has offered to continue making educational posters as topics come to mind. She also created some great bookmarks with different themes that we will be distributing all over the village at our fairs, our little library, and the book fairs that the schools have each year.

Beverlydscn0879 was able to meet Kailey and her mother, Marcia in Fairbanks and they are both sensitive, graceful women who care immensely about the welfare of animals. Kailey asked Bev to come to her school and talk to her class about Canine Comfort, how we met each other, the development of Kailey’s posters and bookmarks, and the needs of animals in distress. The kids were wide-eyed at some of the realities of attitudes about dogs, and hopefully, the message of banding together to make a difference came across.

Kailey and her mom, Marcia, are truly appreciated by Canine Comfort!
