Fiona (white) and Andy (black) needed a place to stay for a time. They came to Kathy Sweeney’s home where 14 other dogs and 3 cats live. It was a little scary at first, but all the proper introductions were made one by one until our guests felt safe and comfortable. Kathy sometimes has to let a rescue dog or puppy come into the house if the weatheer is too much for them to handle. So, it was with tons of love and support that Fiona and Andy wanted to help the rescue dogs and puppies with the food bill, and let me tell you with the eight puppies we have right now we are very happy to have their support. So, if you know somebody and they haven’t heard it all, spread this wonderful news, Canine Comfort, Inc. has the love and support of two very special dogs, Dogs Helping Dogs. Many thanks to Frontier Alaska for their willingness to help in the rescuing of abandoned and neglected dogs and puppies. Arlene Clay has been an animal advocate all her life, and was one of our first supporters when we formed as a rescue group.She had a dog team early in her life in Alaska and explored our area of the state with her husband, no matter the weather. Oh, the wondrous things she saw and the stories she can tell of her dogs and her adventures! Her husband even built her a chariot so the dogs could pull her on her rounds to the store or the post office!She has sponsored many a dog who could not find a home in the Lower 48 and continues to do so to this day. She gives us ideas, cheerleads our efforts, and shares her home for doggie-snuggle visits when a rescue dog needs an extra hug. She even keeps company for a few hours daily with Bert, a rescue dog who now lives across the street from her in a good home (see photo). We all thank you for your steadfast support of our cause, Arlene, and we honor your respect and devotion to all living things.Arlene recently donated her favorite 4-wheeler and cart to Canine Comfort. Everts Air Cargo
EVERTS AIR CARGO is the best! When Kathy Sweeney and her husband moved back to Alaska EVERTS was the freight hauler choosen. At that time, they had a Jack Russell Terrier, an American/German Pitbull and a Siberian Husky. Plus, four cats all moving to Aniak. They had to travel by freight in order for them to fly all at once since passenger flights have a limit of two animals on board at one time. Everybody at Everts was so nice and had to come see the animals that rode in the cab of a small pickup all the way from Vermont.
